The article examines the role of mathematics Olympiads as a comprehensive tool for working with highly motivated children in the system of pre-professional education. The author believes that their integration into the educational process makes it possible to effectively identify and develop the mathematical abilities of schoolchildren, forming the basis for an informed choice of the future profile of education in high school.
