This article analyzes and systematizes the stages of evolution of key paradigms of agricultural development and identifies development vectors for modern agricultural production based on the principles of sustainability and cyclicality. The article examines the transition from the dominant 20th-century "productivism," aimed at maximizing yields through chemicalization and mechanization, to modern models of sustainable development. The article reveals the content of each paradigm, highlighting their advantages and negative externalities. Based on an analysis of the experience of Russia and the Republic of Belarus, it is shown that modern productivism should be based on the triad "markets - products - productivity" while strictly adhering to environmental standards. The paper provides a detailed description of the concepts of the "green" economy and the circular (cyclical) economy as tools for overcoming the environmental crisis and depletion of natural resources. Particular attention is paid to the principles of forming closed production cycles and introducing innovative technologies in the agroindustrial complex. The paper uses the method of comparative and historical analysis, as well as a systems approach to the study of economic models (linear and circular). The conclusion is made about the need to integrate environmental and social priorities into the economic strategy for agricultural development to ensure the well-being of future generations.
