In the article the data of the comparative analysis of the American, Canadian, European and Russian models of the Arctic economy development is presented. The specific characteristics of the development of the Arctic economy in the Arctic territories of the United States of America (the state of Alaska), Canada, Russia, Iceland, Greenland, Norway, Sweden and Finland are underlined. The comparative evaluation of national models of the Arctic economies of these countries based on the Arctic triangular index, elaborated by the researchers of the University of Taft's (US), is presented. For more objective assessment of Russian Arctic economy it is suggested the appliance of the method of the socio-economic development analysis by the sub-zones of its spacious Arctic zone. On the basis of this analysis it has been detected the substantial socio- economic lagging of the Arctic sub-zone of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
