Given the contradictory data on the role of the ANKK1 (DRD2) gene rs1800497 variant in the development of affective disorders, its study in isolated populations is of particular interest. This study is the first to investigate the association of the rs1800497 (Taq1A) variant with the levels of anxiety and depression, assessed using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), in the Yakut population on a sample of 148 individuals. Using the PCR-RFLP method, it was shown that carriage of the minor T-allele is statistically significantly associated with an increased likelihood of anxiety-depressive symptoms (OR = 2.07; 95% CI: 1.05–4.10). The obtained results indicate a potential contribution of this genetic variant to the pathogenesis of affective disorders in the studied population. Further studies on expanded samples are required to confirm the identified associations.
