"Изучение этого явления с научной точки зрения никогда ранее не ставилось…": деятельность КЯР по организации исследования многолетней мерзлоты в Якутии = “The study of this phenomenon from a scientific perspective has never been undertaken before…”: the activities of the commission for the study of the Yakut ASSR to organize permafrost research in Yakutia

В работе впервые выполнена реконструкция истории деятельности Комиссии АН СССР по изучению Якутской АССР по организации геокриологических исследований в Якутии. В этой связи анализируются попытки постановки систематических работ по изучению многолетнемерзлых пород в регионе, включая дискуссии об оптимальных методах и подходах к формированию программы изысканий, работы по восстановлению и использованию шахты Шергина в качестве ключевого пункта геотермических наблюдений. Показано, что ограниченность знаний о природе "вечной мерзлоты" определила сложность выработки согласованного исследовательского подхода. Отдельное внимание уделено осмыслению роли человеческого фактора в деятельности экспедиции. Сделан вывод о том, что, несмотря на целый ряд трудностей, рассмотренные работы стали важным этапом становления отечественной геокриологии. The work is the first in historical science to carry out a targeted reconstruction of the activities of the Commission for the Study of the Yakut ASSR to organize geocryological surveys within the framework of the Yakut Complex Expedition of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1925–1930). Based primarily on documents recovered from the St. Petersburg branch of the RAS Archives, this paper examines the initial experience of systematically studying permafrost in the region, including discussions about optimal methods, the development of a survey program, and attempts to restore and utilize the Shergin mine as a primary geothermal observation site. It is demonstrated that limited knowledge of the nature of permafrost and a lack of specialized personnel hampered the development of a coordinated research approach. Despite its high scientific significance, systematic geocryological research proved hampered by a lack of resources, technical constraints, and organizational issues. Special attention is given to understanding the role of the human factor in the activities of the Yakutsk Integrated Expedition, including the work of the little-known M. V. Gulin, whose participation proved crucial to the work in the Shergin mine. It is concluded that the work of the Yakutsk Integrated Expedition, despite the incompleteness of many initiatives, was an important stage in the development of domestic geocryology and the shaping of the concept of the need for specialized research on permafrost in the northern regions of the USSR.
